Buy the Book

A few years ago, I came across Bookshop.org. This online book retailer sources its stock from local bookstores, some of which don’t have the means to maintain their own online storefronts or might not have the ubiquitous reach that mega retailers have. Beyond the benevolent idea that my shopping would benefit small-to-medium sized businesses, I was extra pleased to note that most titles were sold at a slight discount, meaning that my hard-earned book buying budget would go a bit further.

I will admit that I did not make a fully-committed switch to buying from Bookshop.org right away. If you’ve read any of my book reviews, you’ll note that for years I have made most of my book purchases by wandering around my local Barnes and Noble. There is something lovely about holding a book in your hands and flipping through a few pages to sample a chapter before weighing if it is the right purchase for you. I doubt that I will ever completely forgo the joy of entering a bookstore and finding something fun to purchase.

However, as my TBR note in my phone is always increasing, I do admit that the convenience of ordering a book online that I already know I want (or that I want to give someone else) is extraordinarily helpful.

As a Bookshop.org affiliate, I receive a commission when you purchase any title from my online shop https://bookshop.org/shop/lmbeatty. That means that not only are you supporting local bookstores, great authors, and esteemed publishing companies, you are also supporting me—an aspiring author in my own right!

Just so you know, all of my book reviews will have a Buy the Book section at the bottom with a link to that specific book on my Bookshop.org shop so that it’s easy for you to grab your own copy. If you find a title that isn’t in my “shop” you’ll still be supporting local bookstores (and probably saving a bit of money)—so it’s still a win.

A few recent reviews of excellent books: Wintering, The Art Thief, All the Light We Cannot See and Bite By Bite

p.s. Send me a message if there are any books that you think I need to read/review/link to my Bookshop.org shop. I’m always looking for great recommendations!
